Wool pioneers from Norway: DEVOLD of Norway since 1853
DEVOLD of Norway takes a pioneering role in the production of textiles made of wool. The Norwegians have been producing high-quality outdoor wool clothing since as early as 1853, and even in times of microplastics, fast-fashion and a throwaway mentality, they still stick to the idea of developing products that can last a lifetime - and are biodegradable. With an uncompromising focus on quality "Made in Europe", the company, headquartered in Ålesund, sets an example for durable, natural clothing, manufactured according to strict rules for animal welfare as well as for sustainable agriculture and fair production. In its collection, DEVOLD shows the versatility of clothing and the outstanding properties of wool, which provides optimal protection and comfort when moving in any type of weather.
DEVOLD is one of the few wool clothing manufacturers to produce in Europe, in its own production facilities in Lithuania. Thus, the company has the complete process in mind: Knitting, cutting, sewing, the final finishing. With the "Sheep to Shop" origin program, the value cycle starts much earlier. With this quality strategy, DEVOLD seamlessly controls every step - from sheep to retail. Each piece has a label that shows the customer which farm the wool came from. DEVOLD is the only brand that does not use an exchange to source raw fiber, but instead focuses on quality and long-term sourcing through a subsidiary in New Zealand and fixed contracts with sheep farms. In the latest edition of the "Better Wool Guide", published annually by the organization Humane Society International, Devold therefore takes first place and is confirmed in its commitment to animal welfare. However, the use of mulesing-free wool has been a matter of course for the wool experts for decades.
