Tatonka GmbH is an owner-managed family business based in Dasing near Augsburg. The company's development department, administration and distribution warehouse are located in Dasing. Tatonka GmbH employs about 980 people worldwide. Andreas Schechinger has been managing the company in the second generation since 2004.

Unique in the outdoor industry, Tatonka operates its own, absolut transparent manufacturing process in Vietnam since 1989. Mountech Co. Ltd. has two production sites (Ho Chi Minh City and An Nhon (Binh Dinh Province)), which are certified according to the globally recognized social standard SA8000. The certification is reviewed every six months and renewed after every three years, most recently in 2020. The Open Factory was launched in 2011. Every Friday, the factory in Ho Chi Minh City can be visited while production is running.

Tatonka products are made of high-quality materials from reputable upstream suppliers. High environmental standards in the production of materials are regularly confirmed by independent institutes, and the best workmanship ensures the durability of the products. In addition, Tatonka operates an extensive repair service at the company site in Dasing, which can also be claimed for used and older Tatonka products.

The GREEN by Tatonka label introduced in 2020 identifies products that use recycled materials and/or materials made from renewable raw materials. The continuously growing number of PFC/PFAS-free products is also shown on the individual product.

With the online tool Traceability by Tatonka, launched in 2022, Tatonka makes its supply chain transparent. End consumers can trace the path of every Tatonka product from material purchase to delivery.
